Upcycle project of the week: Turn a robe into a rug

Faced with a robe that was too big for me even when I was pregnant I decided to get to work.  Too nice for the rag pile, I set my mind to creating a bathroom rug.

Crocheted Ocean Colored Reception Favor Bowl, Large

Crochet, you say? A bowl? Yes. I make myself ridiculous challenges. But, to your advantage, this ocean bowl turned out swimmingly. Eco-conscious, recycled t-shirt fabric, comprises this piece with colors ranging from teal, lime green, and indigo to dark gray. Can you taste that salt air?

Accidentally I just made my favorite scarf yet. Untethered by rules, the infinity scarf can be worn in eight loops (shown), tied lariat-style, dangling around your neck as a human lasso...pretty much whatever you like. Freedom is yours. Light-weight deep blue polyester retains its color and carries with it this paradox: It keeps you warm without being too hot. Magic?

We made this lovely pillow out of Jonnie's shirt. 

In a tumultuous time in her life she surrounded by family and taken to watch the Three Soldiers statue installation in Apalachicola, FL. It's almost like love itself wrapped her when   she wore that shirt. Because of the trip, the connection to her dear grandfather, and the deep sentimental value the shirt had for her, destroying the logo was a no go. Quick fix? We incorporated it into the design. Now she can display it proudly in her home and can hug it when she's blue.
